3D SONAR fits in blood vessel for medical imaging

US researchers have integrated more than 100 ultrasonic transducers onto a 1.5mm silicon chip. The aim is to create a forward looking real time 3D scanner for examining blood vessels from the inside.
The prototype sends images at 60frames/second from a dual-ring of 56 transmit elements and 48 receive elements. Each element is 20MHZ capacitive micro machined ultrasonic transducers.
The operating voltage of the device is 20mW

In medical speak it provides 3D ultrasound & intra cardiac echography
This device shows whole volume of blood vessel, you can see front back and side walls together. This kind of option is basically not available at this time..
