Wi-Vi (Wi-Fi Vision)

A technology that lets you see behind walls could soon built in your cell phone.(developed by MIT professor And graduate student).
the device uses wireless antenna in a cell phone or laptop, technique behind this is cancelling out all interfering signals,Wi-Fi signal doesnot just bounce off humans,but also walls, floors,and furniture.the signals are 10,000 to 100,000 times more powerfull than the reflection of human body.
How it works?
Wi-Vi sends out two wireless signals, one of which is inverse  of other. The so called "Interference nulling": the two signal cancel each other out unless they hit a moving things,target such as a Human.

Note: The device meant to be portable so for example, a person worried that some one was hiding  in the bushes could do a quick scan for her personal safety

U-CAT [Underwater robot]

                                               [Designed to penetrate ship wrecks]

A Robot turtle will help under water archeologists to inspect shipwrecks. Its locomotion principle is similar to a sea turtle independently driven four flippers make it highly maneuverable. Maneuverability is a desired feature when inspecting shipwrecks. It can swim front, back, up and down turn on the spot in all directions. It carries camera 7 video footage for gathering information.
Conventional robot use propeller for locomotion, whereas here it use FIN PROPULSOR to drive in all direction without disturbing water.

Power Up 3.0

Use Your Smart Phone To Control  a Paper Airplane

Researchers at Washington have developed a new technology that can turn your self-made paper air plane into a smart phone controlled flying machine capable of twisting and turning through open skies
It is wireless communication based on blue tooth technology (on smart phone with an accompanying app)
Tilting the phone to the left or right allows users to turn their airplane as it flies a whopping 60 yards

Steps:

To begin a user has to simply fold a piece of paper into a paper airplane, then they have to attach the smart module to their paper plane with clips underneath the smart module starting the app connect the smart module with cell phone..

DOMAIN NAME IN DNS

 DOMAIN NAME IN DNS

We have seen about DNS server in our previous post.
There you must came across the word "Domain Name".
The purpose of DNS server is to convert domain name into IP address.
The domain name used has various categories. They are
  • Generic Domain
  • Country Domain
  • Inverse Domain

Generic Domain

We are using many domain names such as google.com, wikipedia.org, slideshare.net, annauniv.edu, etc.
These sites are categorized by the name after dot in it.
By using the extension these domain names are routed to corresponding servers.
Some of the extension domain names in generic domains are

.com --> commercial organizations
.edu --> educational institutions
.gov --> governmental institutions
.net --> network support centers
.org --> nonprofit organizations
.info --> information service providers

Country Domain

The country domain uses the country name as extension.
The extension should be in two letters.
For example,    google.co.in
Some extensions of countries are

India --> .in
United States --> .us
United Kingdom --> .uk

Inverse Domain

Inverse domain is the used to map address to a name.
Hence the name inverse is used.
For instance, if a server receives a request from a client and this server has only the ip addresses of the clients in its list then the server needs to find out if this client is on its authorized client list.
In order to determine if the client is on the authorized client list, server asks its resolver to query to the DNS server to map an address to name.
And this type of querys are called inverse query.
For example,    121.45.34.132.in.addr.arpa

Phone Charging Glasses

Generally we use coolers while sunny days..(i.e., Sun Glasses) On keeping this thing in mind, a new technology is introduced, nothing but we can charge our mobile phone..
I hope while reading these you have predict the technology let me explain that,
The Arm of the glasses has been hacked to carry photo voltaic cell, which is wired to a battery hidden within plastic. The cells charge the battery while you are wearing glass in sun
Then latter we can detach the arm, and it can be used for charging.

CHEETAH

Fastest Legged Robot

The cheetah is the fastest legged robot in the world, It crosses 29miles per hour, it is new record Previous was 13.mph
It has an articulated back that flexed back and forth on each step with increasing its speed like the animal does.
The initial test were done with high speed tread mill, it is powered by off board hydraulic pump.
It uses a boom like device to keep the cheetah running in center of the tread mill.
The Next generation is “WILD CAT”

Just watch it….

DNS SERVER

DNS SERVER

Right now you are using the DNS server without knowing what it is because you are using internet now.
Without the help of DNS you cannot use the internet.
Let us see it via this post...

What is DNS?

DNS- Domain Name System
It is apt to say that DNS is the computer's GPS for the internet.
DNS is a protocol for computers to exchange data on the internet.
The main job of the DNS is to convert domain name into an Internet Protocol (IP) address.
For example, converting domain name "digitalnativeengg.blogspot.in" into IP address "70.42.251.42"
The internet use an IP address for routing data from one device to the other or vice versa.
Direct routing with IP address is a complex task so we are using DNS severs.

DNS SERVER:

DNS server contains book of IP address and it maps domain name with suitable IP address.
If you searching anything in search engines or sending e-mail, then it means you are using DNS server.
It converts your domain name into IP address of that domain, so that it is easy for you to get into that site.
The name of this process is called DNS name resolution.
Without this DNS server the whole world of internet will ruin.

Is there only one DNS server?

No, more number of DNS servers are available worldwide.
If there is only one DNS server the data storage may be insufficient.
And also failure in the server makes the data inaccessible.
To avoid this number of DNS servers are available.
The services are distributed among these servers.
Each server is allocated with certain area and it takes control of that area.
If some services not come under a DNS server then it ask other DNS server and send appropriate service to the user.

How does your computer know which DNS server you should use?

While using internet you must need the help of Modem or Wi-Fi network.
The modem or Wi-Fi router also have network address that assign one or more DNS server to your device which is nearby your home.
In this way your device cab translate DNS name to IP address.

PENDRIVE

PENDRIVE

Pendrive - Most of us are having this device in our hand.
Do you know what is inside it? And how it is working?
Let us see that in this post...

Pendrives are nothing but USB Flash Drives. It is the commonly known removable storage device.
The pendrive comes under the category of Mass Storage Devices.
It has the capacity up to 256 GB.
The increased usages of pendrives are due to its compact size, high speed and longer life span.

What is inside it?

We can divide parts of pendrive into two. One part is used to interface it to the computer. And other part is used for storage.
Interfacing part is called USB connector and the storage part is called flash memory.
It has USB connector, crystal oscillator, memory chip and a controller.
It has two chips, one is USB controller chip and other is flash memory chip.
The whole circuitry is covered by plastic.
The USB connector will be displayed outside for interaction with computer. It can also be covered with removable plastic lid.

How it is working?

The crystal oscillator is used to produce the clock signal for necessary synchronism with the computer.
The USB controller chip is used for communicating data between computer and flash memory of pendrive.
There is a set of protocols for data communication with devices having mass storage.
The operating system have inbuilt protocols and libraries for this so no need of installing any external drives for using these devices.
The other chip called flash memory is used for storing data.
The flash memory is of NAND type.
Depending upon the memory size number of flash memories used will vary.
For example, 4GB pendrive uses 2 flash memories.
