Controllable nanomotors moves inside human cells

A researcher in US says they have placed tiny synthetic motors inside live human cells propelled them with ultrasonic waves and steered them magnetically.
They are rocket-shaped metal particle which move around inside cells, spinning and battering against cell membrane
This will help to know internal mechanical response of cell that no one has seen before. In previous cases we have only ‘invitro’ in laboratory not in living human cells
The nano motor can move autonomously which may be important for future application..

The Rumour Monitor

A news tool to determine whether online stories are true or false is being developed by universities in the UK and Germany. Sensationalist, rumour based web publishing may never be the same again..
But now this tool design is restricted to determine whether stories are true or false is being developed by the universities of shiffled, Warwick, Saar in Germany, modul Vienna and kings college London.

The tool will classify online stories into four types.
                                                                                  Speculation
                                                                                  Controversy
                                                                                  Misinformation
                                                                                  Disinformation
By the names itself we can find its purpose..
very soon we can expect this tool which will be applicable for every website...

Up Coming "DOMAIN NAMES"

We already discuss about domain names in our blog, now here is a recent information regarding that.
.blog, .baby, .lol, .talk, .movie, .life, .discount, .fashion, .news these all are few example, about several thousand names are requested by various organisation for domain names.

The process of assigning domain names were controlled by ICANN- Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers.
Still we are familiar with .in, .com, .org. most probably we can find different domain names soon.
by the way Reliance got patent for ".indians"

Working of Capacitor

Working of Capacitor

Capacitor is an electronic component that stores electrical energy.
Inside the capacitor, the terminals connect to two conducting metal plates separated by an insulator.

This is the symbol of capacitor.
Connect a battery across the capacitor.
Charging of capacitor:
The plate that is connected to the negative terminal of the battery accepts electrons from battery.
In this way the capacitor is fully charged.
Once the capacitor is fully charged it has same voltage as the battery.
Discharging of capacitor:
The plate that is connected to the positive terminal of the battery losses electrons to the battery, so that the capacitor discharged.

MEMS Accelerometer

MEMS Accelerometers

MEMS - Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems
MEMS is a technology that consists of miniaturized mechanical and electro-mechanical elements.
Accelerometer is a device used to measure the change in acceleration.
MEMS accelerometers are used to accurately detect and measure the acceleration, tilt, shock and vibration.
The most important elements of the MEMS are micro sensors and micro actuators.
These two are called as transducers because it converts one form of energy into another.
For instance, Micro sensors converts mechanical signal into an electrical signal.
MEMS accelerometers are mostly used in smartphones, automobiles and location based devices.

Let us see the application of MEMS accelerometers in smartphones.
Smartphones rotate their display between portrait and landscape mode depending on how you tilt the phone.
It is done by means of accelerometer. It senses the change in its axis and orients the display accordingly.
The change in axis is the mechanical movement and is converted into electrical form.
Likewise it is used in automobiles and location based devices to find speed and location.

Robotic Termite Can Build Complex Structure

Harvard scientist have developed robots that can create structure using simple rule based on the way termites build. The automated machines each about size of small brick, can work as a team to build any predefined structure given to them
Instead of communicating directly with one another or following a central command, the robot co-ordinate their action by assessing what work has already been done & adding to it.

Blu-Ray Disc

Blu-Ray Disc

Blu-Ray Disc is a digital video disc that has high storage capacity than ordinary DVDs.
The size of ordinary DVD is 4.7GB that hold up to 2 hours of high definition video.
The Blu-ray Disc has two types. A single layer Blu-ray Disc can hold 27GB of data that has 13 hours of high definition video.
A double layer Blu-ray Disc can hold 50GB of data that has high definition video for more than 20 hours.
The main difference between DVDs and Blu-ray Discs is that it uses blue laser to read and write data.
Normal DVDs uses red laser for reading and writing.
The wavelength of blue laser (405nm) is shorter than red laser (650nm).
Blu-ray discs store video and audio in the form of pits (Pits are grooves that run from Centre of the disc to its edges).
The more data that is on a disc, the smaller and more closely packed the pits will be.
The smaller the pits, the more precise the reading of laser will be.
Blu-ray also has a higher data transfer rate of 36 Mbps.

Data storage on the disc:

The data is place on the top of a 1.1mm thick polycarbonate layer.
A hard coating is done on the outside of the disc to protect it from scratches and fingerprints.
The data is much closer to the lens in the disc; it eliminates the problem of disc tilt.

BLUE EYES

BLUE EYES

Blue Eyes is a latest technology that replaces the mouse.
A person can simply look at the screen and tap a key on the keyboard for highlighting text, clicking links, scrolling, etc.
It is done by using an eye tracking hardware with high definition camera and infrared lights.
The software used for this is called Eye point software.
For clicking a web link, a person should look at the link and hold the "Hot Key" (key in the keyboard). The software will magnify the region of that person's focus. Then the person should release the hot key.
It is specially designed for physically challenged people.
The term Blue stands for Bluetooth and Eyes for eye movement.

Push To Talk in mobile phones

Push To Talk in mobile phones

We are using our mobile phones as two way communication device. But we can also use it as one way communication device like walkie talkie. How???
How many of you know PTT button in your mobile phone???
The above mentioned one way communication is possible by means of PTT button in mobile phones.
PTT is known as Push-To-talk (or) Press-To-Transmit.
It is used for one way communication.
It is a kind of half duplex communication; only one user can talk at a time.
The button is used to switch the device from voice transmission mode to voice reception mode.
Using this PTT button we can communicate with any device (that device should also have PTT service) regardless of time.

How to use this service?

Press and hold the PTT button for few seconds and then release it.
If you release the button, an operator will ask for the number of the user you wish to dial.
Then the connection will be established between the desired devices.

LDR

LDR

LDR - Light Dependent Resistor.
LDR is also called as Photo resistor, Photo conductor or Photo cell.
LDR is a variable resistor whose value decreases with increase in the intensity of the light.
It is made up of high resistance semiconductor.

Working:

If light falling on the device is of high frequency (i.e., brighter), then photons absorbed by the semiconductor gain sufficient energy to jump electrons into the conduction band.
Due to increase of electrons in the conduction band the conductivity increases which means the current increases which in turn lowers resistance.
If light falling on the device is of low frequency, then conductivity decreased. Hence resistance increases.

Type of semiconductor for LDR:

The semiconductor used may be either intrinsic or extrinsic.
Intrinsic devices have zero impurity. There are only valence and conduction bands. The energy of photon should be high to excite electrons to conduction band.
Extrinsic devices have impurities. They have other energy level closer to conduction band. Hence even the small amount of photon energy excites electrons to conduction band.

Applications:

LDR is widely used in security alarms, street lamps and clock radios.

CAPACITIVE COUPLING

CAPACITIVE COUPLING

A coupling capacitor is a capacitor which is used to transfer energy from one circuit to another.
It links only AC signal between circuit and blocks DC signal.
That is, it prevents DC signal entering in to the second circuit.

Where the capacitor should be placed in the circuit?

The capacitor is connected in series with the load to be coupled.
It blocks low frequencies such as DC signals and allows only high frequency signals.
It acts as high impedance for DC signal and low impedance for AC signal.
It is used wherever we need only AC signal output while DC signal is used to give power to the circuit parts.
For Example: In case of microphone circuit, we need DC power to operate and the output speech is AC signal. While the speech signal transfers from microphone to output device the DC power shouldn't influence it. There is the need for Capacitive Coupling.

The most significant uses of capacitive coupling is in the field of medical. Many of the medical instruments tap signals from human body at that time the DC power shouldn't influence on the other signals. If DC signal affects it then there is a severe chance of electrical shock. That is why we are using capacitive coupling in this place.

Why the movies are being digitized?

Why the movies are being digitized?

Digitization:

Digitization is the representation of an object, image, sound, document or a signal in the discrete form.
The resulting discrete form is called digital representation.
For easy understanding, digitizing means converting analog signal into digital signal.
Here we are going to see the digitization of image and movie only.

How digitization is done?

Let us take an image for illustration.
The first image is the analog image and the second one is the digital image.
Digitization of image involves several steps and the steps are as follows:

Step1: Any one box shouldn't be half filled. Fill the entire box with color.
Step2: One box should contain only one color.

If an image is represented like this then the image is called as digitized image.
The same steps are followed for digitizing the movie.

Need for digitization:

It gives longer life for our valuable images, videos, etc.,
It increases the quality of the images also.
The exact value of any image at any particular position can be predicted easily.

Note: The above mentioned concept for digitizing the image is just the simple and basic understanding of digitization. Actually the image processing is the wide area and it is the very small part in it.
