THINNEST LIGHT ABSORBER

THINNEST LIGHT ABSORBER

Stanford university scientists have created the thinnest light absorber.
The nano size structure thousand of time thinner than ordinary sheet of paper, could lower the cost & improve the efficiency.
While reading up to this you can realize the reason behind the sharing of this information.
Yes it is the emerging trend, very effective way for utilizing our long lasting source i.e., solar energy.
The team at Stanford University achieved their goal that is making solar cell with very less material as well as low cost, without compromising its ability to absorb & connect sunlight into clean energy.
Thin wafers dotted with trillion round particles of gold. Each gold nano dots was about 14nm tall and 17nm wide.
They are fabricated by the technology called block-co polymer.
An ideal solar cells can absorb visible light spectrum to invisible UV & IR rays where as gold nano dots can able to tune the absorption from one light from one light spot on spectrum
Eg: reddish- orange light was about 60nm long

BICYCLE RIDING ROBOT

BICYCLE RIDING ROBOT

PRIMER V2 robot, which  can able to ride a bicycle.
It is the first robot which can ride a cycle like human.
It is developed by Mashahiko  yamaguchi.
Primer v2 cycling on pedals, maintaining own balance via steering and braking by  dragging its feet along the ground in these attributes primer v2 advances beyond MURATA BOY robot  (who can ride cycle but was affixed with pedals and hand bars).
Let us think of it in what way we can apply this…
By implementing some more ideas we can use it for pizza delivery, courier delivery etc…

ERROR FINDING PEN

ERROR FINDING PEN

Vibrating pen picks up mistakes as you write.
A writing tool from Lernstift capable of  picking errors in writing.
It means that the pen can vibrate  when it  encounter  any spelling  mistake or any improper formation of letter.
In calligraphy mode it detect the deformation of letter  by comparing the letter with the reference one(nothing but they are already programmed with all letters), on the other hand in orthography mode it check the spelling

SNAKE ROBOT

SNAKE  ROBOT:

The picture that is appearing above looks like a real snake. Isn't it????
But it is not a snake, it is a snake like robot..
Look at the picture below.

This robot is specially designed for search and rescue operation.
It is especially designed to rescue people during earth quakes.
This slightly scary robot has the structure that slither through small gaps and debris for navigating collapsed buildings to find trapped people.
This robot is associated with a camera, lights and audio sensors.
So it can send live video back to its driver which is used to find the trapped people even before emergency workers begin to clear rubble.
Because of this the workers can identify the location of trapping of people and can easily rescue people.
Usually these snake robots are paired with rescue dogs.

BATTERIES IN LAPTOP

HISTORY OF BATTERIES USING IN LAPTOPS AND PCs

We know that battery is the basic block of a system to operate.
Let us see the history of batteries have been used in Laptops....

NICKEL_CADMIUM (NiCad)

It was the first battery commonly used in older laptops.
They have a life of two hours, but this life also decreases with memory effect.
The problem with this battery is the gas bubbles accomodate in the cell space which blocks recharging of battery.
The only way to get rid of this is to discharge the batterry before recharging.
Another dawback of NiCad is if the battery charges too long, it will explode.

NICKEL_METAL HYDRIDE (NiMH)

It was the second battery that was the bridge between NiCad and Lithium-Ion batteries.
They have longer lifetime than NiCad but in overall case it is slower.
They also suffer from memory effect.

LITHIUM_ION (LiIon)

It is the battery that currently in use.
They are light and have longer life spans.
They donot suffer from memory effect and won't overheat if overcharged.
Many laptops with LiIon batteries claim to have 5-hour battery life.

WORKING OF LiIon:
The electrodes of a lithium-ion battery are made of lightweight Lithium and Carbon.
Lithium is the highly reactive element, that can store lot of energy in its atomic bonds.
The energy stored is translated into very high energy density.
Lithium-Ion battery can store 150 watt-hours of electricity perkilogram.
